Dr. Juan Allegretto attended ICTF conference

Dr. Juan Allegretto had the opportunity of presenting his work at the International Conference on Thin Films (ICTF) in 2023. His work, titled "Growth of Metal-Organic Framework Films on Nanostructured-SERS Substrates," delved into the exciting intersection of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). MOFs, known for their micro-porosity and versatility, have emerged as promising materials for various applications, including gas sensors. On the other hand, SERS has become a powerful analytical tool for swiftly identifying target molecules. By growing MOF films on nanostructured surfaces, he explored the impact of structured plasmonic surfaces on the growth of these films and their performance in SERS applications.

The ICTF is supported by the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique, and Applications (IUVSTA), brings together experts from across the globe every three years and covers a broad spectrum of topics in the realm of thin films and coatings. These encompass thin film engineering, nanostructured coatings, semiconductor films, and a myriad of applications ranging from optoelectronics to energy harvesting.

Funding from FWF ESP-93 project TP-MOF made possible the attendance and presentation on this event and it is greatly acknowledged.
